About the IBMP

The Interdisciplinary Biochemistry Masters Program IBMP, is a collaborative effort between the Departments of Molecular and Structural Biochemistry;  Plant and Microbial Biology; Food, Bioprocessing, & Nutrition Science; Animal Science; and the Prestage Department of Poultry Science. Scholars in this program will take core classes in Biochemistry and will have the opportunity to apply this knowledge to solve real-world problems in a wide variety of areas.  Research studies could include probiotics, human milk biochemistry, microbiome metabolics, nutrition, plant metabolism, or engineering of plants for nutraceuticals, or pharmaceuticals.

The IBMP is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation NSF. In an effort to promote diversity within the university and the biotech industry, the grant provides financial support for underrepresented groups who are also academically gifted scholars. The IBMP is working with several biotech companies to provide internship opportunities to interested scholars.
